Summer's Last Blast at Great Wolf Lodge with the Rueda's

This past weekend we decided to tag along with our friends The Rueda's to Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine Texas.

As always, we had a fantastic time and wish we could have stayed longer. I can't wait to take Sawyer back so that she can really enjoy all their fun stuff! Just gotta remember to actually pack Hootie's swimming stuff. I wish I could forget my swimsuit and not only find one in my size...
but on sale for $2.99 :)

Daddy & Hootie. She was soooo excited we couldn't contain the beast.

I swear he's really not this miserable

This is what happens when you tell him to "smile"

Go Hootie Go!

"See Hootie, when you're big like me we'll go down those slides"

Why do I hear Aerosmith's "Walk this Way" ??

My Heart

The Caged Hoot 9.18.11

So I'm sitting in the sweat shop... working... one-handed like I usually do. And just singing along to be very annoying IPod that randomly stops all the time (seriously about to through it through the wall right about now...)  when I look down at Miss Sawyer. She looks up at my with her gorgeous big blue eyes, grins her gummy 1 1/2 tooth smile,... and burps the most disgusting milk burp ever right in my face... then lays her sweet head on my shoulder and goes back to her business of singing along.

What's my response to this?? I die laughing. Tear provoking laughs.

I know every mom probably feels this way about her child, but I am so grateful to have her as my daughter. She was meant to be mine. She makes me feel like I can do this motherhood thing after all. Phheewww.... Sigh of relief :)

She's hilariously funny with a nerdy laugh. She doesn't care how awful of a dancer or singer I am.  She inspires me to do so much I can't see straight. She makes doing everything one-handed second nature.

How in the world can one person do all that ... and more!

Thank you my sweet Sawyer Lane for being you because you make me strive to be the best me <3

A little pampering for myself :)

I am one of those people that when they find something they love, they want to share it with everyone. Obviously:) But who doesnt love a good find!

A few weeks ago I came across FabuLash Wichita Falls on Facebook. Now, I am not a make up kind of girl plus I seriously have NO lashes. My eyelash curler and I spend a lot of time together in the mornings... and throughout the day. So how awesome would it be not to have to go that anymore? This I had to try.

She offers Candylashes starting at $75 which includes one refill if needed. They last 4-6 weeks and fall out with your natural lashes. Plus they're waterproof and already have the 'mascara look!

I decided to go with the shortest option for a more natural look. I think total time was 30-45 minutes (sessions usually last an hour or so) and are done in her home studio. Hannah was fantastic to spend time with and I couldn't have been happier with the end result.

I think this is a great and affordable little pick me up for anyone. And I am suggesting to every bride I know for her big day. Great 'almost-done' make-up that's waterproof for your big day?! Seriously awesome!

I've also been asked in the last couple of days where I get my hair done so here's the scoop :)

I was referred to Salon Allure At The Falls by a friend and decided to give her a try. The cut and color were exactly what I wanted which was a bit of a chore since I really wasn't sure what that was before we started :) Jessica is a perfectionist at what she does which is exactly what my hair needs. Plus I was super jealous of her home salon because she got the luxury of working so close to home and doing what she loves. Jessica offers hair and makeup services.

Make sure to visit these fantastic girls' Facebook pages to see all their awesomeness :):)
Thanks Hannah & Jessica for making my 'get up and go' time minimal!

Sawyer's First Sick Day & Mommy's Labor Of Love

My sweet face officially has her first cold. After a very sleepless night and lots of tears (which is really unusual for Sawyer) I took her to the doc. Words of advice from my dad " Welcome to motherhood". :):)

So I spent most of the day learning how to do everything one-handed (even blogging!) because my normally super independent baby just wanted to be held... and cry A LOT :\

Ive been wanting to make and freeze some homemade baby food for awhile. Of course I've looked up the do's & donts which all just seem to be a personal preference. I even almost shelled out the dough for one of those really fancy baby food makers ( ya know.. slices dices... as seen on TV goodies) but glad that I didn't. Unless it's going to make this whole baby food making easy as pie, I'll spend my money elsewhere.

I'm pretty stoked with the end results. But just so you are aware... this was not easy and quick as some will lead you to believe. It's a process that is tedious but all in all... it was worth it. I loved being able to "cook" for her and hopefully she won't spit it out in disgust. Keep posted :)

Any all you baby-food makers: first of all if you do this on a regular basis, KUDOS to you! I hope that I can find the time to do this more often. Fingers crossed :) Secondly, would love to hear suggestions to make this process easier (or quicker) or even recipes. I am blessed with a kid that will eat anything (YEA!) and I'm sure she would like some variety.

And did I mention that I somehow managed to through Chicken & Rice in the crockpot and make cinnamon honey butter (like the gooey crack-like goodness at Texas Roadhouse) for dinner tonight? Yes, I'm tooting my own horn but I never get to be very domestic. Let's just say I was Pinterest inspired... again :) Follow Me On Pinterest. You can find the recipes on my boards.

Thanks for swinging by :)

Decided to try carrots & sweet potatoes. And then a last minute decision of nectarines

I read that carrots that are not organic need to be peeled due to nitrates... so that's what I did
My snot-nosed Hootie Hu wants to help. Did I mention that she's almost fully mobile? Everything but walking...

Glass pan coated with olive oil

cut carrots long-ways
Baked at 375° for 45 minutes

added 2oz of formula at a time until I got the consistency that I wanted

liquify :):)

was a huge mess but def worth it

measure portions out

found these cute little 2 oz storage containers at Burlington Coat Factory
She generally eats one 4oz helping and we start on another but doesn't usually finish.
This will be a great option!
And voilà!! My labor of love for my sweet girl.
voilà

I'm pretty thrilled with the outcome

Weekend project inspired by Pinterest complete:):)

Bye Bye Summertime

I am a big fan of summer and all it's sunshine... including our Texas temps over 100° but this summer has def put us all through the test. Yesterday sighs of relief swept over our heat stricken home (and Facebook:) with highs only in the 90s plus bonafide hoodie wearing weather today.
So good bye Summer 2011 and hello Fall :)

She loves the air vents. Hot Baby :)
