Sunshine && Summertime!

We finally got to use the pool this weekend! We took a break from our Hootie Hu sewing day to catch some sun. Sawyer of course loves anything with water. It's her giant bathtub. And I finally found her sunglasses that her Mimi actually got her before she made her grand entrance into the world. If Elton John & Gilligan had a baby it would look just like Sawyer. Does that make me Elton John or Gilligan ??

Love that face!
My nerdy little fishy

I've been spending my last couple of Mondays in a camera class offered by Jason Palmer (check out his website or Facebook) and it's been really great! I'm just excited to leave not feeling completely clueless. I've been practicing "out of the green box" and even off the priority modes so I'm pretty darn proud of myself. Also going to be taking a photography workshop with Lindsay Moore of Fabulous Occasions Photography in Kingwood Texas. She has some fantastic work and I'm so pumped to go her to her workshop. Check out her Facebook or Website.

And if you haven't done it already... VOTE FOR HOOTIE HU at Shani Dawn Photography & Prop Shop for "Best Mess". Make sure that you first "Like" Shani Dawn Photography & Prop Shop (because that's what it's all about right... spreading the word of some fantastic goodies & winning the prize is just icing on the cake!) and then "like" Sawyer's actual photo in the "Best Mess" photo album

Just look for this face:

I also have to brag on my wonderfully talented mummy for making Sawyer's 4th of July outfit.
The pattern was found at Tie Dye Diva Patterns and the fabric was purchased at our local Hobby Lobby. She made the 3-6 month pattern but it was a little snug :) Will def have to make another one (ohhh Darn!) since she is sure to outgrow this in no time. We're so lucky to have such a talented sewing woman in our lives :):)

I tried (& succeeded!) with my very own DIY project as well. I really wanted one of those cheesecloth wraps but couldn't decide the color and they're like $25 each! So I figure I can make one myself. With fabric dye (in Pink Flamingo) and Cheesecloth from Hobby Lobby I did it!!

And of course I have to show off the recent goodies I've purchased from Babys BOWtique. I can't say enough good things about Amie. I can't walk out of that store without something. I really really wanted something Fox Racing for my sweetie and if you've looked you'll notice there is NOTHING available. So what's a girl to do? Have one made!! So courtesy of the talented Amie and gifted from Mimi.... we got our very own Fox Racing outfit!! I love it and couldn't have seen it any better!

We also have a Catepillar (the heavy equipment company not the animal :) outfit made! Stay posted for that photoshoot :):)

Thank goodness Jerms is such a good sport!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this daddy/daughter set (available boys & girls... babies & toddlers). These make for awesome picture opportunities ... and it helps that it's true :):)

Jerms & Hoot June 9th

I've had a lot of people ask me about Hootie Hu so I always like an easy way to refer people to us. You can check out Hootie Hu on: Our Etsy StoreOur Blog, or Our Facebook Page. We love all the support, questions, and comments that we've received. Remember you can find all of our ready-to-gift goodies at Babys BOWtique located at 3300 Kell Blvd. She is working with different store hours for the summer so find her on Facebook for hours. We've got some upcoming events that we're trying to prepare for now. Looking forward to Deerfest Wichita Falls on July 30 and Christmas Magic Nov 4-6.

Thank you for checking out our blog! Hope it was at least somewhat entertaining :)

So my sweet, chubby cheeked, and always has something to say little Hootie Hu is officially 4 months old. Where did the last 4 months go?! Wasn't I just complaining how much I wanted this baby to just be here already? Not that I miss those days AT ALL.... I do wish time stood still... or at least went in slow motion.

At Sawyer's 4 month check up last week she weighted in at a whopping 13 lbs ( I was seriously expecting at least 16), 24" long, and her head is 15 1/2 inches :) Although Hoot got 3 vaccinations (which she took like a champ) I'm sure she's thrilled that we finally got the okay for baby food. YEAH!

We started off with carrots and of course she devoured them like nobody's business.

We've had a pretty busy weekend including a sleepover for Hootie with Red & Kitty (my parents), super productive day for Hootie Hu, photography prop making (I made a hot pink cheesecloth wrap! Thrilled with how it turned out!), cake baking, and I managed to squeeze in a dinner with a friend.

In Hootie Hu news the last few months we've been doing prints & patterns that I love so I decided to step outside of the box a little (just a little). We've posted a few new items on our Hootie Hu Etsy Store. We'll be putting more items in the store ( Babys BOWtique) this week. Almost done with our first custom bedding set so hopefully that's in the store soon too!!

This past week I had the pleasure of getting to photograph one of the cutest little families EVER! I worked with Britnee at David's Bridal and couldn't wait to meet her new little man Connor who just turned 8 months old. If you'd like to see my York family photos check out Britnee's Facebook. I still haven't gotten my photography blog up and running. Ran into a little snag with the web designer. If anyone has any recommendations for blogs in general send them my way. I am clueless when it comes to them.

While grocery shopping today, Jerms got a wild hair and decided that we needed a pool. Of course we NEED a pool! We live in Texas and Hoot's just not ready to take the boat out. Plus apparently public pools are germ infested and not good enough for Hootie ... but whatever the reason is thank goodness we got one. Only downside... it takes a day to fill up! That is a major downfall for the world's most impatient person. We can't wait to test it out!

We have so many things planned this summer and I can't wait to get them started. I start a photography class tomorrow, our first Father's Day with Hootie,  we'll be taking the 'bird for her first rally in Oklahoma in late June (we're going to be the only people there under 60), photography workshop with Lindsey Moore in July, and a trip to the coast at the same time since we're close enough. Hopefully everything goes as plan!

Thanks everyone for all the super kind words and support you've given myself and Hootie Hu. I've said it before but it's a great feeling when something you really just love to do makes other people happy. It really just as simple as that.

It's been a very busy last couple of weeks! I celebrated my first Mother's Day, Hootie Hu has started adding custom baby bedding to our line of goodies, and I've had some really fun photo shoots! I've been allowed some awesome opportunities the last couple of weeks to practice my photography skills and I am so thankful. It's been a learning process and I've really enjoyed working with everyone. I've even lined up TWO weddings! One is set in a country barn just outside of town with a bride who has the coolest vintage taste and the other is set at Coyote Ranch Resort with a bride who makes her own couture cakes!! Seriously can't go wrong and can't wait to see all the details.

Here's some of the stuff I've been working on!

I'm working on a whole seperate blog for my photos to help (at least help me) keep them organized. Not quite up and running just yet so stay posted! Questions about my photography just e-mail me at tarahghering@yahoo.com or find me on Facebook.

One of our first big milestones that I got to celebrate was my first Mother's Day (to a non-fur baby). We spent Mother's Day with Jerms family at Logans and got to check out the Coyote Ranch Resort with my family.

My sweet girl is getting so big so fast. I know everyone says that and I'll prob say it for the rest of my life but it couldn't be more true. Sawyer sits up in her boppy and just hangs out with the family, she sleeps through the night, and she talks non-stop. No seriously... NON-STOP. Her giggles and smiles are contagious. I've recently had to clean out her closets of all her newborn clothes and it terribly sad. She is the best little traveler & shopper. As long as she's fed, she's one happy camper. We have also discovered that not only does Sawyer look like her dad (at least more than she looks like me) she has his body temp of 110 degrees! I've never seen a baby sweat so much!
I look over and big girl is reading the mail.... I don't think she's happy about what she sees.... May 13, 2011
We had our first cereal! She was soooo excited her mouth was opened wide and the food wouldn't stay in. Better luck next time. Poor girl wore herself out & slept the rest of the night.

I love that when you tilt her upside down, she airs up:)

Hootie goes in for her 4 month appointment on June 1st. YES 4 MONTHS!! I can't believe it either. We're all taking bets on her weight. Girl likes to eat... at least she gets it honest. Sadly, Sawyer's hair has begun to lay down and it's pretty much tamed. I have a feeling her wild hair will reappear someday. We're in the process of planning our first family vacation this summer. I am in need of a beach!

We've recently added some new items to Hootie Hu so be sure to check out that blog at http://www.hootiehu.blogspot.com/ and go "LIKE" our fan page at Hootie Hu on Facebook. Questions about custom orders e-mail hootiehu@gmail.com.
All your comments & support are so appreciated!

I actually started writing this post about 2 weeks ago and am just finishing. Hopefully I'll get better at this whole blogging thing.... or at least come up with something so "keep-you-at-the-edge-of-your-seat" that you don't notice :)

Thanks all!!

Happy Birthday Jeremy!

Who doesn't love any reason to have cake! Believe it or not, Jeremy and I have yet to celebrate his birthday. I've either been out of town or he's working. So this year I wanted to at least do something...

I'm not usually one to gush over anyone, but Jerms is pretty fantastic. He says the worst things at the worst time which always makes me laugh, he supports every crazy idea that I can come up with with, leaves work to come fix the dog clippers I broke in the middle of grooming Geds, and does the dishes because I hate it with a passion. Not to mention, dances & sings to Hootie in the papoose when she's not a happy camper. We are two very lucky girls to have someone who takes such good care of us.

Some of you may know that Jeremy is the proud owner of a 1979 vintage Bluebird (Yes, like the school buses) mobile home. It's true 70's inside & out and even has an Addam's Family theme song for a horn. It's def his favorite toy. So I thought it would be a great idea to get his cake made in the shape of his bus. Now just the task of finding someone to do it. Well Miss Alex (bettyfoxcakes@yahoo.com) is the girl to go to!

I couldn't have been happier with the cake! And if any of you know Jeremy... or even see pics of Jerms... he NEVER smiles. I've learn to get over this but I actually captured a rare moment where he actually SMILES on purpose!

We had a great small dinner with family & friends at Jerm's favorite place, The Jalapeno Tree. It was a great way to end a great weekend :)
